The Image Collection
The collection contains over 70,000 photographs of Asia, including photographs of archaeological sites, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, major works of art & architecture; holy sites and places of worship. You will also find photos of National Parks, Biosphere Reserves, wildlife in its natural habitat and a great variety of plants & flowers.
My people photography features a vast diversity of images of men, women, children and the elderly, showing people at work in agriculture, commerce, industry, mining, fishing, education and the arts, as well as people engaging in sports, leisure activities, local festivals, religious rituals and other customs.
The library features images of Indian art & architecture from the Indus River Civilization to the Great Mughals and the British Raj; images of Buddhist Art from the ancient Gandhara Civilization in Afghanistan to the Khmer Empire in Cambodia; photos of Islamic Art in South Asia and Southeast Asia; photographs of art & architecture China, Southeast Asia, Korea & Japan and contemporary Asian architecture.
In terms of Asian religions, I have photographed the holy sites, temples and rituals practiced by followers of Buddhism, Hinduism, Cao Dai, Chinese Ancestor Worship, Hinduism, Jainism, Shamanism, Shintoism, Sikhism, Zoroastrianism and the Baha'i Faith.
